We are the 5th Battalion of the 3rd Royal Guards. Our unit was coined "The Royal Irish" by the CO's lance mates to honor his heritage. Read Nirgali's profile for the history of the unit.

For all intents and purposes, we -are- the 3rd Royal Guards, but we are required to use a non-canon name in MWO. Over the years, mechwarrior enthusiasts have developed strong affinities with various canon house and clan unit. We chose a name and story to affiliate with the 3rd Royals.

3rd royal guards - coiled viper, yellow trim, blue backgroundThe 3rd Royal Guards, nicknamed "The Pride of Tamar," is a prestigious military command under the Lyran Commonwealth. This Regimental Combat Team is unique in that we are the only Lyran Royal Guard unit not assigned to safeguard Tharkad. We are, in fact, a mobile force, assigned to various offensives when and where ever the commonwealth see's fit to send us. We are a "trouble-shooter" unit. We are loyal to the Archon and we protect the interests of the commonwealth with great pride.

With the War of 3039 behind us and our presence no longer needed on Freedom, we have been assigned various peace-keeping operations around the Lyran half of the Commonwealth. The Steiner-Davion armed forces merger was completed in 3042 when the last vestiges of the LCAF and AFFS were decommissioned. We are currently located on Port Moseby under the command of Harrison Bradford. Among other regular duties, we also participate in celebratory marches and other special events to show numbers and maintain stability in our region.
